ONE Friday Fights: The biggest martial arts organization in the world will make a comeback on Friday, July 18, at Bangkok, Thailand’s legendary Lumpinee Stadium, for another thrilling episode of its weekly Asia primetime event series.
ONE Friday Fights 116 will be shown live from the storied location during primetime in Asia. There, a number of sportsmen will compete for a major roster slot at ONE Championship and a potentially life-altering US$100,000 contract. On the international side of the card, a few already-contracted talents will also appear, and the stakes are very high.
The main event will feature an exciting 112-pound Muay Thai rematch between Thai-Malaysian striking phenomenon Adam Sor Dechapan and French-Algerian phenom Nahyan Mohammed, which they previously faced. At ONE Friday Fights 107, the 17-year-old Adam, the younger brother of Aliff Sor Dechapan, defeated the 16-year-old Nahyan via split decision in their first encounter.
With Adam trying to build on his strong debut performance and Nahyan seeking atonement after losing their first fight, both young prodigies will be looking to make an impression in their rematch. In the weekly series, the victor will establish themselves as one of the most talented young players.
In the co-main event, Thai veteran Panrit Lukjaomaesaiwaree and Belarusian-French striker Antar Kacem engage in an exciting 142-pound Muay Thai bout. Panrit, 28, comes into the fight fresh off a stunning knockout victory over Suksawat PK Saenchai in the first round.
The 26-year-old Kacem enters the bout with an outstanding 52 victories, including a highlight-reel knockout of Kongklai Sor Sommai that demonstrated his destructive power, and a three-fight winning streak. This bout guarantees fireworks from the first bell because both fighters are renowned for their explosive punching and finishing prowess.
In a clash of styles, Russian knockout artist Ibragim Abdulmedzhidov will square off against Thai clinch specialist Superball TDed99 in a featured 138-pound Muay Thai battle. The 28-year-old Superball, who has more than 70 wins over elite opponents on the regional circuit in his home country of Thailand, is renowned for his erratic kicking game and his aggressive fighting style.
The former Thailand champion, weighing 122 pounds, will try to use his lethal straight knees and unrelenting clinch work against Abdulmedzhidov, who is powerful. The Russian, 30, has won several knockout fights in the ONE Friday Fights tournament. The Russian’s explosive force and the Thai’s technical skill clash in this scene could steal the show.
With a bantamweight kickboxing match between two contracted fighters as the main event, the card will feature four Japanese celebrities showcasing their talents.
In a highly anticipated fight that could result in a world title, Thailand’s former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Petchtanong Petchfergus, who currently holds a 359-56-1 record and is ranked #3 in the bantamweight kickboxing division, will take on K-1 Champion Yuki Yoza.
