The Denver Broncos announced that six players had been chosen to serve as team captains. These players include veteran safeties Kareem Jackson and Justin Simmons, quarterback Russell Wilson, right tackle Mike McGlinchey, and punter Riley Dixon.
The Captains Safety – Kareem Jackson Jackson is a 35-year-old player entering his 14th season in the league and his 5th season with the Broncos. The team voted on these captains and chose these six players as their choices. This year, he will continue to be one of the defense’s leaders, a position he has held for a few years. He still performs on the field and serves as a mentor for the roster’s younger players, making him a respected veteran and locker room leader.
You could argue that Justin Simmons is the Broncos team’s face at safety. He is arguably the best safety in the league, a leader in the locker room, a team ambassador off the field, and volunteers for numerous community causes off the field as well.
He is, like Jackson, a well-known veteran player who is also a leader in the locker room. He is the kind of person you want to be the face of your franchise and the leader of your defense. He does it right away and sets an excellent example for the team’s younger players.
Russell Wilson is the quarterback, and although he is often given the title of captain, he is deserving of it. He has won two Super Bowls, is a multiple-time Pro Bowl quarterback, and has played in two Super Bowls. Despite having a poor season, he is the Broncos’ offense’s leader and the team’s most recognizable player.
Wilson must serve as a role model for the team both on and off the field and contribute to this team’s return to winning ways and the postseason.
Wide Recipient – Courtland Sutton
The Horses veteran wide recipient was named skipper by the players. He is the longest-tenured ability position player in the storage space and clearly all around regarded by his colleagues.
Sutton is the head of that youthful getting room and presently will play a greater job as a group skipper. He must perform on the field, assist this offense in recovering from a poor season, and serve as a locker room leader and mentor for the team.
Right tackle: Mike McGlinchey, right tackle for the San Francisco 49ers. In the offseason, McGlinchey signed a big deal with the Broncos and has already been named captain. McGlinchey was chosen as captain despite the fact that there are more experienced players on that offensive line.
He is an experienced player who has played in the Super Bowl and advanced all the way through the playoffs while playing for the 49ers. He knows how to act immediately and has been on winning teams. He was paid a lot by the Broncos for what he can do on the field, but they also get a well-liked locker room player who has quickly become the team’s leader.
Punter: Riley Dixon The seasoned punter signed a new contract with the Broncos this offseason and has since earned the right to be named captain.
Dixon makes sense given how much the special teams unit has changed since the offseason. The team traded for kicker Wil Lutz just last week after their longtime kicker Brandon McManus was let go. Since Dixon has been with the team for the longest, he was the obvious choice for captain. He can now lead in that locker room, make explosive punts, and switch positions during games.
