Indian boxer Akash Kumar advances to the men’s 57kg final by defeating Palestine’s Wasim Abusal.

At the 2023 Mustafa Hajrulahovic Memorial Tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia, Indian boxer Akash Kumar advances to the men’s 57kg final by defeating Palestine’s Wasim Abusal. Akash Kumar will compete in the tournament’s finals.

In the second round, Abusal attempted to counterattack but was unsuccessful due to Kumar’s relentless attacks.

Kumar gave the fight an aggressive start and appeared to be in control from the first round on. In the second round, Abusal attempted to counterattack, but the Indian continued to throw vicious punches and left no room for error.

The Indian didn’t allow his rival any opportunity of a rebound all through the session. Kumar got a consistent 5-0 success to enter the last to be played on Saturday.

Kumar, who won bronze at the World Championships in 2021, won the game 5-0 unanimously. He will now fight for the last time on Saturday in an effort to win the gold medal.

On Friday, Manju Rani (50 kg) and Manish Kaushik (63.5 kg) will compete in their semi-final matches.

The tournament features a Indian team with 11 players, including five women.
