Largest martial arts organization in the world will make a triumphant return to Bangkok, Thailand, on August 22 for another explosive installment of its weekly event series.
ONE Friday Fights 121 will be shown live from the iconic location during prime time in Asia. Two dozen fighters from MMA and Muay Thai will compete there for a one-of-a-kind US$100,000 contract and a place on the main roster of ONE Championship.
In the main event of lightweight Muay Thai, Russian sensation Maksim Bakhtin will compete against Thai veteran Tengnueng Fairtex in an intriguing matchup between youth and experience. Tengnueng, 32, has a formidable reputation and hasn’t lost since 2018. His strong left body kick and clubbing left hand make him one of the division’s most dangerous finishers.
The 22-year-old Bakhtin, however, approaches this crucial match with an unconventional manner and flawless professional slate. The three-time Russian amateur national champion thinks this is his life’s ambition because of his unpredictably effective striking and disciplined style. There will be pyrotechnics in this generational battle as both competitors vie for the deal that might alter everything.
Thai superstar Chokpreecha PK Saenchai and Myanmar wonder Thway Lin Htet square off in an exciting strawweight Muay Thai bout in the co-main event. After a six-year hiatus, 34-year-old Chokpreecha, a two-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion, returned to competition with aspirations of giving his two children better education.
Thway Lin Htet infuses the competition with vitality and youthfulness. A fan favorite due to his unrelenting pressure fighting style, the 22-year-old lethwei specialist began training at the age of 15 with aspirations of becoming famous. In lethwei competition prior to joining ONE, he was unbeaten, demonstrating the devastating power that has translated to his success in Muay Thai. It looks like this cross-cultural conflict will be a remarkable masterclass.
Also, there is exciting flyweight Muay Thai action on the event as Pettonglor Sitluangpeenumfon of Thailand vs Shimon Yoshinari of Japan. Representing the next wave of Japanese Muay Thai talent, Shimon, the Road to ONE: Japan winner, has looked excellent in his recent triumphs.
The evening also begins with MMA action, as Sheagh “Dangerous” Dobbin of Ireland and Brazil’s Jean Carlos Pereira square off in lightweight competition, showcasing the breadth of talent from around the world vying for a chance to become ONE Championship stars.
Every competitor eager to earn a spot on ONE’s main roster is part of the eclectic lineup, which guarantees nonstop action across several martial arts disciplines.
