“I am excited that many of the game’s superstars have expressed interest in representing our country at the 2024 Olympic Summer Games. The United States has incredible basketball talent,” Hill said. “It is an honor to choose the team that will support us in our quest to return to the top of the Olympic podium. As excitedly await the beginning of national team activity, this difficult process will play out over the next few months.

Tyronn Lue (L.A. Clippers), Erik Spoelstra (Miami Heat), Mark Few (Gonzaga University), and Steve Kerr (Golden State Warriors) will serve as assistant coaches for the 2024 USA Men’s National Team. At the 2023 FIBA Men’s World Cup in Manila, the foursome led the USA Basketball Men’s National Team to a fourth-place result last summer. After assisting Gregg Popovich as a coach in Tokyo in 2020, Kerr won an Olympic gold medal.

In related news, USA Basketball also revealed that the USA Men’s National Team will play Canada in the USA Basketball Showcase in 2024 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The exhibition match will air live on FS1 on July 10 at 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET.

A number of games are played during the USA Basketball Showcase to aid the national teams in getting ready for big tournaments like the FIBA World Cup and the Olympic Summer Games.

After Las Vegas, the U.S. will begin an international training window that includes exhibition matches at the O2 Arena in London on July 20 against the national teams of South Sudan and Germany on July 22.

According to USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley, “USA Basketball is thrilled to be back in Las Vegas as our men’s national team program looks forward to tipping off the journey to the 2024 Olympic Games there in July.” “The match against Canada at T-Mobile Arena is a great chance for our fans to support the U.S. national team before they travel overseas and an important opportunity in our preparations.”

The USA will hold training camp in Las Vegas, their longstanding training center, prior to the Canada game. A later time will be announced with more details.

After finishing in the top two spots from the FIBA Americas zone at the 2023 FIBA World Cup in September, the United States of America officially qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The men from America will be vying for their fifth consecutive and 17th overall Olympic gold medal.

Four teams—two 3-on-3 and one 5-on-5 men’s and women’s teams—will represent USA Basketball at the 2024 Olympic Summer Games. In both 5 on 5 and 3×3 women’s competitions, the USA is the current Olympic champion; next summer, 3×3 men will compete for the first time. A later time will bring further details about each of the four USA Basketball teams.
