Arbitrator Kelly Sutherland tended to the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers before the main round of the 2021 NHL season on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center.

Sutherland’s comments preceding puck drop at the vacant field were brief, yet ardent.

“Respectable men, we’ve all sat tight with energy during the current day,” Sutherland said. “Welcome to the beginning of the NHL 2021 season. All the best to every one of you. Stay safe, stay solid. How about we have an incredible fight.”

The NHL season will highlight 56 games with the standard season planned to complete on May 8.
