National Games 2022: Opening ceremony in Ahmedabad features music and culture

A number of national artists mesmerised the audience with their performances.

A big opening ceremony for the National Games 2022, India’s homemade Olympic-style competition, took place on Thursday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

On large screens, there was a brief presentation of Gujarat’s rich culture and advances to kick off the event.

Parth Ojha, a well-known Garba singer, then mounted the stage and captivated the audience with his fervent performance. The atmosphere in the largest cricket stadium in the world was raised by Ishani Dave’s voice as she maintained the Navratri theme. Vande Mataram, as performed by AR Rahman, was next by Bhumik Shah.

Two of India’s best singers, Mohit Chauhan and Shankar Mahadevan, enthralled the audience with their vigour and prior hits.

Maana Patel, a swimming champion from Gujarat, presented Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the symbolic Torch of Unity inside the stadium in accordance with Olympic tradition.

The torch was set down on the podium by the prime minister so that augmented reality could light it.

Numerous sports legends were present at the Narendra Modi Stadium to see the opening ceremony, including Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Mirabai Chanu, Gagan Narang, Dilip Tirkey, and Anju Bobby George.

Later, on the same lines as the Parade of Nations, a ceremonial march known as Ek Bharat was held. The march included athletes from 36 States, Union Territories, and Services.

Unsurprisingly, the 700-person Gujarat delegation lead by tennis player Ankita Raina received the most cheers.

Gujarat’s rich tradition and culture was continued to be highlighted by a number of spectacular performances by local artists. One of the day’s highlights was a cultural performance by 600 local artists.

More than 30 sports will be competed in by over 7,000 participants, including Olympians and international medalists, in six cities: Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Bhavnagar. Only the track cycling competitions will take place in New Delhi, outside of the state.

The 36th National Games, which had their opening ceremony on Thursday, began with table tennis on September 20 in order to avoid competing with the international table tennis championships, which got underway in China on Friday. On October 12, 2022, the National Games will come to an end.
