IPL 2024: AB de Villiers is Scheduled to Arrive in India, Confirming his Role for the Upcoming Season

In addition to stating that he will be in India for the T20 league, AB de Villiers has confirmed his participation in the 2024 IPL. de Villiers is scheduled to arrive in India to take on the role of commentator. He left the T20 league after the second half of the 2021 IPL. The legendary player for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced on his YouTube channel that he will be providing part-time commentary jobs.

Before returning for the knockout stages of the 2024 Indian Premier League, the 40-year-old stated that he will be providing commentary. “Please watch our live streams as I will be in Mumbai for the first few weeks of the IPL, providing some commentary. The legend from South Africa added, “I will also be back at the backend for the knockouts.”

De Villiers also made commentary in India the previous year. He will be in the nation once more, but this time he won’t be working for a franchise. After serving as a member of the coaching staff for RCB for 11 years, de Villiers was expected to remain with the team, but he has not taken on a coaching role.

Despite not being employed by a team, de Villiers will once more be connected to the IPL this season. Long after he left international cricket, the RCB legend continued to be linked with the IPL. May 2018 saw him unexpectedly announce his retirement from international cricket. Following his departure from the SA team, he participated in three more IPL seasons.

IPL player de Villiers amassed 5162 runs in 184 matches while playing for the Delhi Capitals and Royals. His chance to captain an IPL team was never granted.
