Kings XI Punjab will be hosting Mumbai Indians in their own home today in the first match of Indian Premier League. Last year KXIP just played 3 matches in Mohali and rest matches were played in Indore. Before moving out of Mohali, KXIP were on a dream run but they lost their way and ended up as a second-last team on the points table. This year is different as all the home games will be played in Mohali.
KXIP’s last two games had controversial elements attached to it. The first game saw a player being given out due to ‘Mankading’ for the first time in the history of IPL. The second match had a no-ball incident where three fielders were inside the ring. KXIP comes in this match with a loss and one win.
Mumbai Indians lost their first game to Delhi Capitals. While they won their second game against Royal Challenger Bangalore. This match also had a no-ball controversy. The last ball of the match was bowled by Lasith Malinga where he bowled a no-ball but the umpire didn’t signal that as a no-ball.
This is a fresh match and both the teams will look to leave their past behind. KXIP have an explosive batting unit as well as a formidable spin-attack.
MI, on the other hand, has some of the best bowlers of the world in their pace attack.
The contest between these two promises to be a thriller. On paper both the teams look somewhat similar but KXIP will go down as the favorite in this match. As they have home advantage over MI and due to their star-studded batting unit.
The result of this match will have an effect on the points table. As whichever team wins will have 4 points and maybe they would go on to be the table topper.
Players to watch
Whenever Universe Boss takes the field he becomes the center of the discussion. He was the man of the match in their last win. Surely he will be the player to look out for in today’s match.
He is surely the best death over bowler of the world right now. His bowling will be today’s attraction.
No major changes are expected from either of the team. Both of them can field the players that played in the last match.
