International show jumper Maziar Jamshid Khani takes equestrian sports to a new level as he joins Behnoode Riding Academy

In a time where the sports field is dominated by games like cricket, football and basketball; it is the equestrian sports gaining recognition globally. This unconventional sporting game has lately received great momentum among all sports lovers. To those who love horses, Maziar Jamshid Khani is a synonymous name in equestrian sports. Born in 1976, he began horse riding at an early age. At 15, Maziar participated in professional equestrian events. After beginning his professional career, he rode with his masters like Aghcheli in Tehran and Gonbad’s group one racing.

Eventually, Maziar started competing in show jumping from 1988. He ranked third in the Youth National Championship in 1990. From then till 1999, the horse rider was a member of the National team where he went on to achieve great laurels and championships in different equestrian events. Trained under Col. Neshati in show jumping, Maziar credits his success to his mentor.

Moreover, he was even trained under Mrs. Firouz aka Louise Firouz, one of the influential personalities of the 20th century. She is known as Iran’s Horse Lady who preserved the Caspian horse, a horse breed that is said to be the forerunner to the Arab horses. In a spectacular career, Maziar Jamshid Khani has been trained under the best names including his father Mahdi Jamshid Khani.

In 1978 when Maziar was 23, he was ranked first in the Adults Championship. Along with it, he has 5 interim championships to be proud of. Among other achievements earned by the horse rider, he ranked first in the CIS International in Baku twice in the two-star category. As far as the three-star category is concerned, he made his place in the top 155 other riders. Besides this, in 2013, Maziar ranked in the top 455 with other five-star riders.

Citing his tremendous success, Maziar Jamshid Khani holds Level 1 of FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) coaching. Being a successful coach in equestrian sports, his core expertise lies in show jumping. Earlier in 2015 and 2017, Khani was nominated as the National Team Trainer in Korea and Asia Youth Championship respectively. As of now, Maziar Jamshid Khani runs a private club where all the amateur equestrian riders are trained.

And after all these achievements, Maziar adds one more feather in his cap. He has now joined the coveted Behnoode Riding Academy, which comes under Behnoode Foundation founded by Behnood Javaherpour. While concluding, he said, “I am glad to join Behnoode Riding Academy. As a coach, trainer and a sportsperson, it makes me immensely proud to see the students showing their love for equestrian sports.”
