USC Women’s Tennis Kicks Off 2021 Campaign with Victory Over Denver

LOS ANGELES – The No. 17 positioned Women of Troy crushed Denver today (Jan. 24) 4-1 in the main match of ITA Kickoff Weekend in Malibu, Calif. A stormy day on Saturday delayed the initially planned match, yet USC emerged ready to take care of business and secured their spot in the ITA Kickoff championship.

Tomorrow, (Jan. 25) the Trojans will go head to head against No. 5 Pepperdine in the title coordinate in Malibu, Calif. at 1 p.m. PT. The victor of that match will get a programmed offered to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships one month from now.

In duplicates, the No. 12 sets of Kulikov/Cayetano got right where they left off last season as they quickly vanquished their Pioneer adversaries on court one. The pair of Ewing/Cheong finished off duplicates with a 6-2 success on court two to guarantee the copies point for Troy.

In singles, senior exchange Summer Dvorak authoritatively made her first imprint as a Trojan by beating Denver’s Hada Chang 6-2, 6-2 on court five to push USC ahead 2-0. On court four, junior Danielle Willson scored her first success of the 2021 season beating Denver’s Tatum Burger 6-2, 6-3.

The Pioneers put a point on the board when Camille Verden-Anderson beat Trojan senior exchange Clare McKee on court six.

In her university debut, green bean No. 103 (and No. 10 positioned Freshman/Newcomer) Naomi Cheong secured the counterpart for Troy with her 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Denver’s Anna Riedmiller on court two.
