PKL 9: Dabang Delhi draw 41-all with UP Yoddhas and Bengal Warriors

Dabang Delhi earned a much-needed win thanks to Ashu Malik’s 12-point raiding effort and Vishal’s brilliant defending (5 points). The Telugu Titans’ losing streak now stands at nine games.

Dabang Delhi ended a six-match losing streak by defeating Telugu Titans 40-33 on Tuesday at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi in Pune. They got a much-needed win thanks to Ashu Malik’s 12-point raiding effort and Vishal’s brilliant defending (5 points). The Titans’ losing streak now stands at nine games.

The first half was played at a dizzying pace, with Delhi seemingly dominating but falling short in crucial moments time and again. Despite having the Titans team down to three for the majority of the half, Delhi was unable to inflict an all-out on their opponents.

Vishal deserves a lot of credit for this, as his two consecutive SUPER TACKLES on Naveen kept the Titans within striking distance of their opponents. Overall, the Titans received five SUPER TACKLES in the first half, with the last, by Mohsen Maghsoudlou on Naveen, giving them a massive lead despite having fewer players on the mat. The Titans led the teams into the halftime break 17-12.

While Delhi failed to inflict an all-out in the first half, their constant pressure meant the Titans were never completely safe. The pressure finally paid off early in the second half, as they inflicted the game’s first ALL OUT to close the gap to 18-19.

With Delhi in command and another all-out attack looming, it was up to Vishal to perform yet another SUPER TACKLE to prevent a total collapse. This time, however, Delhi did not let their heads drop and quickly inflicted a second ALL OUT to take the lead.

The game remained close until the end, with the Titans appearing to salvage a result. However, Ashu Malik’s SUPER RAID on Ankit, Parvesh Bhainswal, Adarsh T, and Abhishek Singh sealed the deal for Delhi, who won 40-33.

The UP Yoddhas and the Bengal Warriors are tied 41-41.

The UP Yoddhas raced out to a 25-15 lead at halftime, but the Warriors put up a spirited fight in the second half and took the lead in the final five minutes. When Bengal Captain Maninder Singh went in for a Do or Die raid in the dying seconds of the game, the Yoddhas tackled him and tied the game at 41-41 at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi in Pune on Tuesday.
