Netflix premiere date for “Seven Kings Must Die,” from “Last Kingdom,” has been set

Netflix has announced the release date for “Seven Kings Must Die,” the sequel to “The Last Kingdom.”

On April 14, the movie will debut on the streaming service. Additionally, the film’s first look images, which can be seen above and below, have been made available by Netflix.

“It has been such an honor to be part of telling this story for all these years,” said series star and executive producer Alexander Dreymon. “As an actor, I have been so challenged and gratified by the privilege of playing Uhtred. Hanging up Uhtred’s sword after filming ‘Seven Kings’ felt, ironically, heavy – even though I know that our tale has reached its conclusion. As an EP on the show, I could not be more proud of the hundreds of people who spent thousands of hours to make the best product possible. As for our loyal fans…what can I say? You are the reason we’ve reached this point and got to bring our saga to the end. This, as it always has been, is for you.”

The story of “The Last Kingdom,” which had its fifth and final season on Netflix in 2022, is continued in “Seven Kings Must Die.” Uhtred of Bebbanburg is played once more by Dreymon. Uhtred “must ride once more across a fractured kingdom with several of the much-loved returning characters, as they battle alongside, and against, new allies and enemies,” according to the official description. Following King Edward’s death, rival heirs and invaders engage in a power struggle for the crown. And when an alliance comes seeking Uhtred’s assistance with their plans, Uhtred must choose between the people he cares most about and his dream of uniting England.

Martha Hillier wrote “Seven Kings Must Die,” which Nigel Marchant, Gareth Neame, and Mat Chaplin produced. Director Ed Bazalgette is in charge. Hillier and Dreymon are the executive producers. It is distributed worldwide by NBCUniversal International Distribution and produced by Carnival Films, a subsidiary of Universal International Studios.

The first season of “The Last Kingdom” aired on BBC Two in 2015. During its third season, Netflix fully acquired the show. The show came in at number one because of its enormous popularity. 14th on the list of 2022’s most streamed original shows compiled by Nielsen.
