Milan easily defeats Lazio to advance to the Italian Super Cup final

In Friday’s Italian Super Cup match in Riyadh, Inter Milan easily defeated Lazio 3-0. Now, they will play Napoli in the championship match. At Al-Awwal Park, Serie A leaders Inter defeated Lazio thanks to goals from Marcus Thuram and Davide Frattesi in each half and a penalty kick from Hakan Calhanoglu four minutes after the half. Following their 3-0 victory over Fiorentina on Thursday, the current holders, led by Simone Inzaghi, will now take on Napoli on Monday night at the same stadium.

According to Nicolo Barella, “It was a great performance, we had a lot of fun out there, like we haven’t in a while,” Mediaset published.

“Everyone wanted the ball today, we had fun and that is important… it’s taken a lot of work to reach this level of quality.”

Now is Inzaghi’s chance to win the Super Cup a record-tying fifth time in his professional career.

Inter would become the second team to win the Super Cup three times in a row with a victory on Monday, following local rivals AC Milan in 1992 and 1994.

“The boys performed incredibly well, and we approached the game well. We achieved our goal of reaching the final, but now we must recuperate in time for the challenging match against Napoli,” stated Inzaghi.

In the next weeks, Inter will face tough competition from Juventus for the title as well as the Champions League semifinals, but Inzaghi unleashed his best players to defeat Lazio.

A lackluster Lazio team hardly got a kick in a one-sided match that demonstrated why Inter is the favorite to unseat Napoli for the Scudetto in May.

Inter produced an abundance of opportunities, and in a commanding performance, Barella and Lautaro Martinez both had shots that went wide.

Lazio, on the other hand, will return to Rome after failing to find a way past a largely indifferent audience in the Saudi capital.

There was little excitement from the stands during Napoli’s victory over Fiorentina, despite the fact that Inter and Lazio drew larger crowds.

With the top two teams from last season’s Serie A and the two Italian Cup finalists competing, this year’s Super Cup is the first to have four teams.
