Michigan Staff Hire Mike Hart as a Running Backs Coach

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh declared Wednesday (Jan. 13) the recruiting of previous Wolverine running back Mike Hart as the program’s running back coach. The untouched driving rusher in Michigan football history, Hart has been the running backs mentor at Indiana University for as long as four seasons (2017-20). He was raised to relate lead trainer in 2020 in the wake of filling in as the Hoosiers’ associate mentor during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

“I am excited about the addition of Mike Hart to our offensive coaching staff,” said Harbaugh. “Mike is a great coach and Michigan Man who has shown the ability to develop and elevate the performance of the running backs that he has mentored. We look forward to welcoming Mike, Monique and their children to the Michigan Football family.”

In his 10 seasons as a mentor, Hart has coached four 1,000-yard rushers, two Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year beneficiaries and the 2014 MAC Offensive Player of the Year, Jarvion Franklin.

As an individual from the Indiana instructing staff, Hart was a 2018 Broyles Award candidate and gotten acknowledgment as a Top 25 scout by Rivals.com for his work on the 2019 marking class.

Hart has been instrumental in the improvement of Indiana’s running match-up, with the program acquiring 1,888 yards and 17 surging scores in 2018. IU followed up by delivering 1,695 yards and 24 TDs in 2019. The Hoosiers acquired 869 yards and scored 12 TDs during the abbreviated 2020 mission.

Hart developed Stevie Scott into an all-gathering entertainer with the tailback earning second group All-Big Ten awards the previous two seasons (2019-20) subsequent to gathering respectable notice praises as a rookie.
