IPL 2019- DAY 2- MATCH 2: CLASH OF TWO CONSISTENTS

We have reached the second day of this fantastic tournament called the Indian Premier League. Being a Sunday, the entertainment will be double as we’ll witness two amazing matches. The first one being the Kolkata Knight Riders going against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The second match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the teams who have been most consistent teams in the past few years. Both of these teams have made to the playoffs in the previous 3 seasons of the Indian Premier League. They have faced each other in either eliminator or qualifier of the last 3 season. SRH won 2 of these 3 contests. KKR have won their opening match of a season in previous 6 seasons. Both of these teams have identical winning percentage in the Indian Premier League.

Team Formation

Both the teams have retained the core players from last year’s squad. KKR bought Carlos Brathwaite, Anrich Nortje, Lockie Ferguson, Harry Gurney, Nikhil Naik, Yarra Prithviraj, Shrikant Mundhe and Joe Denly.

SRH bought Jonny Bairstow, Wriddhiman Saha, Martin Guptill. They traded Shikhar Dhawan for Abhishek Sharma, Vijay Shankar and Shahbaz Nadeem from Delhi Capitals.

Injury Update

The absence of Kane Williamson who was SRH captain last year will be a big issue in this match. Bhubaneswar Kumar will be the captain of SRH in today’s match. David Warner has also joined the team after he was banned from international cricket last year.

KKR suffered a blow when the trio of Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi and Anrich Nortje was ruled out due to injury. KC Cariappa and Sandeep Warrier have joined the team.

Playing XI

The playing XI of SRH looks too strong as they have almost covered every aspect of the game. KKR also has a solid first XI but they don’t have the replacement of their core players. This is not the case with SRH as they have a strong bench strength as well.

SRH:  David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Shakib Al Hasan, Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (c), Sandeep Sharma, Siddarth Kaul

KKR:  Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Prasidh Krishna
