India was compelled to give Mukesh Kumar his debut in the second Test against the West Indies because to Shardul’s injury, according to the BCCI and Rohit Sharma

Due to Shardul Thakur’s injury, Mukesh Kumar was able to make his debut in the second Test between India and the West Indies.

Prior to the second game against the West Indies on Thursday at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar received his Test cap. Shardul Thakur, who according to the BCCI was not available for selection owing to an injury, was replaced by Mukesh. Following the toss, BCCI announced that Shardul Thakur was unable for selection for the second Test due to a sore left groin. However, Shardul’s accident ended up being a blessing in disguise for Mukesh Kumar and India.

Mukesh was selected for the India A team after helping Bengal reach two Ranji Trophy finals in the previous three seasons. He once again dazzled everyone with five-wicket hauls against Bangladesh A and New Zealand A. For India A, he has 18 wickets at an average of 17.50.

“This is a historic occasion. The two teams have a long history together. Over the years, we have seen some really cricket be it in India or in West Indies. I made my debut against them. We hope we can continue the legacy of the former players,” said India captain Rohit Sharma.
