FIH Pro League 2025–2026: New Zealand opting out for the forthcoming season, the Pakistan men’s hockey team has been invited to play in the FIH Pro League 2025–26. When New Zealand won the 2024–25 Nations Cup, they were entitled to attend the event.
Pakistan was formally invited on Wednesday by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), which oversees hockey worldwide.
The deadline for the Pakistan Hockey Association to notify FIH of their decision regarding whether to accept or reject the invitation is August 12.
Pakistan will make their debut in the FIH Pro League, the premier yearly competition on the international hockey calendar, if they agree.
One of the most well-known teams in international hockey is Pakistan. They have won the Olympic Games three times and the Hockey World Cup four times. Pakistan lost badly (6-2) to New Zealand in the final of the FIH Nations Cup 2024–25, finishing as runners-up.
If India chooses to play in the 2025–26 season, Pakistan, who was rated 15th in the FIH Men’s Rankings at the time this article was written, may be included. According to the tournament’s rules, the two competitors might play two games.
The Indian side just avoided relegation to the Nations Cup after joining the Pro League in the 2020–21 season and finishing eighth in the 2024–25 season.
