Boxer, Lungston Stevenson is squaring in his first professional fight

Nashville, Tenn. (WTVF) – Langston Stevenson is not as well-dressed as any other boxer in the sport.

On Friday, the Nashville man will make his debut as a professional fighter.

Randall Wenson, Stevenson’s coach at the International Boxing Academy in Nashville, said: “You need to have good balance, and the amazing thing about Langston is that he can overcome having prosthetic legs, which are extremely serious. “When I first saw him he was arguing with a professional fighter and I was surprised to see that I could do whatever he did, but I was also surprised to see the toughness of taking punches, riding with punches.”

Stevenson learned boxing just a few months after he lost part of his leg in a bad car accident.

“I was actually coming from a Jiu-Jitsu tournament,” Stevenson said of his accident night in April 2015. “I was just sleeping behind the wheel … I collapsed on a pole five minutes from my house.”

At first it was thought that Stevenson’s left leg could be saved at the hospital, but later doctors reported it.

“Eventually the doctor came up to me and said ‘Hey dude, I won’t catch your leg.’ So, I decided to go ahead and get rid of it, “said Stevenson.

The breaker will make his debut in pro boxing at Ric Greenter International in West Tennessee. Memphis Friday Night Boxing will be produced by One Six Six Boxing Promotions and Mike Cook Boxing.

“It means I haven’t given up on the dream. It means no matter what happens to anyone, not just isolated individuals, anyone in life we can move on from that,” Stevenson said.
