Anemic van Vleuten wins the 2022 Tour de France Femmes

Dutch cyclist Anemic van Vleuten won the reincarnated edition of the Tour de France Fames on Sunday, taking home the prized yellow jersey.

39-year-old Movistar Team rider and Tour favorite compatriot Demi Vollering won the eight-stage bike race by 3 minutes and 48 seconds. Katarzyna “Kasia” Niewiadoma of Poland finished third.
World number one Van Vleuten won stages seven and eight.

According to cycling news publications VeloNews and Cycling Weekly, she won despite starting the Tour with a stomach bug and dealing with no fewer than five bike changes on Sunday in the final stage.
Team Jumbo-Wisma rider Marianne Voss, who won two stages and led most of the Tour, ultimately took the green jersey to win the overall points classification or sprinters’ competition, depending on the final results.
Team SD Worx’s Valring took the polka dot jersey for the Queen of the Mountains, while Trek-Segafredovas’ Shireen van Unrooij took the white jersey for 2022.
Canyon-SRAM Racing was the top overall team ahead of FDJ-Suez-Futuroscope and Trek-Segafredo.

The 1,029 kilometers (639 mi) race in eastern France finished on La Super Planche des Belles Filles.
It was the first women’s Tour de France since 1989.
