18 players are selected for the women’s training camp roster by USA Basketball

In anticipation of the 2024 FIBA women’s Olympic qualifying tournament, USA Basketball has selected an 18-person roster that includes four stars from the Las Vegas Aces, Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, and Aliyah Boston.

The training camp will be held at New York’s Barclays Center from February 2–4. After that, a 12-person squad will be chosen for the Olympic qualifying competition, which takes place in Antwerp, Belgium, from February 8–11.

Due to their victory in the FIBA World Cup in the fall of 2022, the women’s national team of the United States has already qualified for the Olympics in Paris. Since 1996, the team has won seven gold medals at the Olympics in a row.

Taurasi, who has competed in every Olympic Games since 2004, is aiming to reach Paris and take home a sixth gold medal. After her 10-month incarceration in Russia in 2022, Griner—a two-time Olympian—may make her debut for the United States in a major competition.

The remaining 5×5 Olympians Ariel Atkins, Napheesa Collier, Chelsea Gray, Jewell Loyd, Breanna Stewart, and A’ja Wilson, along with the 3×3 Olympians Allisha Gray, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young, complete the training camp roster.

Chelsea Gray, Wilson, Plum, and Young recently won the WNBA championship with the Aces for the second time in a row.

WNBA Rookie of the Year Boston, Rhyne Howard, Arike Ogunbowale, Kahleah Copper, Sabrina Ionescu, Betnijah Laney, and Alyssa Thomas—all of whom contributed to the United States’ gold medal at the 2022 World Cup—will also be in training camp.
