Women’s ODI World Cup 2025: A roster of 15 players was announced by South Africa on Wednesday for the forthcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2.
Tazmin Brits’ firepower will help the batting department, and the multi-talented all-rounders Nondumiso Shangase, Anneke Bosch, Annerie Dercksen, and Nadine de Klerk give the team depth and balance.
Karabo Meso, a 17-year-old teammate of Sinalo Jafta’s from the DP World Lions, will accompany her behind the stumps. Meso will compete in her first senior World Cup after previously representing South Africa at two ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cups in 2023 and 2025.
With seamers Masabata Klaas and Tumi Sekhukhune providing variation in the pace attack, Nonkululeko Mlaba leads the spin contingent. Young all-rounder Miané Smit, who played the similar position at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup last year, has been added as the travelling reserve.
The campaign for South Africa starts on October 3 against England, then moves on to New Zealand, hosts India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, and ends on October 25 against Australia.
In order to be ready, the Proteas Women will play Pakistan in a three-match ODI series in Lahore on September 16, 19, and 22.
