The International Cricket Council has confirmed that the England and Wales Cricket Board will still host the World Test Championship finals. A decision on the prestigious Test-format competition is expected to be made this week at the ICC Annual Conference in Singapore.
The ICC confirmed that the British Isles will continue to host the finals, which are scheduled for 2027–2031. The nation where this sport originated will host the following three championships, which were held there in 2021, 2023, and earlier this summer in 2025.
The 2021 final was played at Southampton instead of Lord’s because of COVID-19. Lord’s held the most recent summit match, while the Oval hosted the 2023 final.
Although several experts have suggested that the final be moved outside of England, this will not happen, particularly for the next three cycles.
Despite the fact that England has failed to advance to the final in either of the first three rounds, large crowds have consistently turned up to the stadium.
India lost both of the first two tournaments, but they made it to the final. Australia won the championship game two years after New Zealand won the first season in 2021. Earlier this year, South Africa defeated the reigning champions, Australia, in the summit match to win their first world title.
