Young people benefit from exposure in national games: Sindhu

Indian athletes will only benefit in the long run from participating in a major multisport competition.

Due to an injury, PV Sindhu was unable to compete in the National Games, but she was still present to take in the ambiance, inspire children, and take in the dandiya rhythms during Gujarat’s Navratri celebrations. The two-time Olympian thinks the National Games, which were held after seven years, are a significant opportunity for many young people to advance to a higher level.

It was sad that I was unable to perform. I was genuinely very ready to enter the court and play when I was moving around. The National Games returning after such a long absence was truly welcome. The pandemic caused the delay. The act of participating is significant. So many athletes will have the chance and confidence to advance thanks to these Games, Sindhu remarked in an interview.

“We can all come together and play in a whole different environment thanks to these Games. Many young players are participating for the first time, and they will advance to the next round when they face off against players like HS Prannoy, Sai Praneeth, and Chirag (Shetty). They’ll gain so much knowledge and inspiration from them.

Sindhu went to Surat and Ahmedabad venues where badminton matches were taking place at the PDDU Indoor Stadium.

“The infrastructure is of a high grade worldwide. The badminton stadium is top-notch, she remarked. “From the lights inside the hall to the sitting area to the courts, it is a really wonderful facility.

“It was remarkable to see the Games organised in such a short amount of time, leveraging existing infrastructure in numerous cities and providing athletes with top-notch accommodations and comforts. I had fun dancing at the garba celebrations,” she chuckled.
