WWE is reportedly making WrestleMania 38 a two-night event

Stick with the two-night format for WWE WrestleMania 38.

According to Fightful Select (h / t SEScoops), the current “action plan” for WWE’s flagship pay-per-view is to launch the wrestling match with the Super Bowl over a two-night period: Yes, just like last week, WrestleMania 38 in Arlington, Texas was going to be split into two nights. The show will be on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3. “

WWE is returning to the recording event for WWE WrestleMania 3 for just six years after hosting WrestleMania 32 at the AT&T Stadium, which drew more than 100,000 fans for one night’s show. For almost 40 years of existence, WrestleMania was a one-night long event featuring blockbuster matches and special superstar appearances, but over the past two years, due to different circumstances, the WWE extended the event to two nights.

In 2020, WWE decided to use the two-night weekend format when the Covid-19 epidemic forced the company to host the event at its own fan-less performance center. Earlier this year, WWE kicked off its first fan-filled pay-per-view event in more than a year at WrestleMania 37, Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. As a result of restrictions related to Kovid, an estimated 40,000 total fans attended the show, which WWE hosted two nights last April.

WWE’s decision to split the marquee event was largely welcomed by his passionate fans, who in recent years have been annoyed by one-night long events that felt more like a marathon than anything else. With pre-shows, it became customary for WrestleMania to run more than six hours and show more than 15 matches, which negatively affected the quality of the show as crowds began to get tired or keep Flatout kidnapped matches late at night, especially with Roman Reigns against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34 To do so.

WWE superstar AJ Style also expressed his belief that the WWE should limit the number of matches on the WrestleMania card or extend the show to two nights. Here is what he told Newsweek in April 2020: “There are a lot of matches in one night if you ask me, there are too many. Either we shorten the matches or do a couple of nights. Either way is with me. At the end of the day, it’s up to the fans and whether they’re ready to show up. And at the same time, maybe give someone who can’t take a couple of days a chance to watch a day or a night and choose the matches they want to watch. ”

The style echoed the sentiments of many WWE fans, who have become increasingly frustrated with WWE’s never-ending WrestleMania event. The main show for WrestleMania 35 in 2019, for example, lasted five hours and 21 minutes, but less than half of the shows had real wrestling, the rest of the show included video packages, entrances, special music performances, and more.

As WWE’s roster has expanded significantly over the past decade, WrestleMania certainly has significant advantages over having a two-night show, the main one being that it generates good crowd reactions and allows WWE to create more matches with a bigger battle spirit.

Now that WrestleMania is running two nights has become a trend over the last couple of years, fans are getting used to it more, and that’s a good thing because six-plus hours of shows just weren’t working.
