The Seattle Seahawks have claimed that QB Jacob Eisen, along with Russell Wilson, is still exempt on IR

The Seattle Seahawks claimed quarterback Jacob Eisen on Wednesday, a day after he was pardoned by the Indianapolis Colts.

While Russell Wilson is recovering from finger surgery, Eisen joins his original team to strengthen his quarterback room. With Wilson injured, the Seahawks now have Zeno Smith and Eisen on their 53-man roster, as well as Jack Luton and Danny Atling in their practice squad.

A fourth-round pick from Washington in 2020, Eisen appeared in one game this season, completing 2 of 5 attempts for 25 yards and was hampered in his 2nd week replacing injured Carson Wentz. . The Colts pardoned Rocky quarterback Sam Ehlinger after closing the injury reserve.

Eisen (Lake Stevens) and Luton (Marysville) are from neighboring cities north of Seattle. According to the Seahawks website, they played on the same flag football team as the little ones before they faced each other in high school and college, Eisen in UW and Luton in Oregon State.

Wilson will have to miss two more games before returning from IR. It is not clear whether the Seahawks will back up Smith between Eisen or Luton – who is more familiar with their system.

Luton, who signed before heading to the season opener, was lifted from the practice squad last weekend to support Smith in the Seattle Pittsburgh Steelers’ overtime loss. He has since returned to the practice squad and could be extended for another time before the Seahawks have to sign him to their 53-man roster to make him available to play.

The Seahawks had an open roster spot after the Cornerback Tray Flowers waived last week and so there was no need to make relevant movements to fit the ezine.
