Japanese strategies series Super Robot Wars is at long last coming West after 30 years

Super Robot Wars has been a backbone strategies RPG series in Japan for 30 years, ever since the release of the first game game in 1991, and has had more than 50 releases across different consoles and spinoffs since. You’ve most likely never known about it, however, in light of the fact that it has never gotten an official localization and release in most of the English-speaking world.

That is not the case any more, as after three decades the most recent in the series is coming to PC in the US and Europe by means of Steam: Super Robot Wars 30 will release on October 27, 2021.

Super Robot Wars was beforehand never released in the West, basically as per its fans, on the grounds that the game is a crossover series highlighting monster robots from a wide spread of Anime and Manga series. There are 22 different IPs in the impending Super Robot Wars 30. That makes it a licensing hell, as large numbers of those shows have been licensed or adapted by different Western organizations long previously, then after the fact Super Robot Wars got moving. Getting the signoff of that load of organizations, negotiating the rights, sharing the money, you can just imagine how that nightmare might unfold.

Super Robot Wars has in the previous few years dropped the Macross series, and a few fans are saying that could very well be the one thing that was keeping it down. In the United States, in any event, there’s a famously belligerent inheritance around Macross and its American reevaluation Robotech. Maybe that, joined with Bandai Namco’s new positive experiences with PC releases, was sufficient to get it confined.

In spite of absence of official releases, the Super Robot Wars series has a lot of English-speaking fans, with past titles in the series getting English releases in the Southeast Asia region. American and European fans of the game have needed to import those before, and were some of the time compelled to play them on region-locked consoles, however it seems as though those days are at long last finished.
