Former giant Evan Engram will make a fresh start after signing with the Jaguars

If there was one player who needed a fresh start, it was Evan Engram. And the former veterans will have a fresh start in Jacksonville.

After five years with the Giants, Engram welcomed the change of scenery and secured the change on Monday when it signed a one-year deal with the Jaguars worth $ 9 million – a guarantee of all that. In addition, he is expected to earn an additional 1 million if he achieves some incentives.

Engram, 27, was a Giants first-round pick of 2017 and caught 262 passes for 2,828 yards and 16 touchdowns in five seasons (65 games). He was devastated by the passing, the injury and the defeat of the Giants during his time with the team. His departure – fully anticipated – makes him another first-round pick to leave without a second contract.

The giants will buy the lower end of the market to find a tight end.

The veteran, as expected, made an offer to quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who, as expected, agreed to a two-year deal with the Steelers, which he felt was a better place to land.

The giants didn’t have the money or the opportunity that Trubisky wanted. If he had signed with the Giants, he could have competed with Daniel Jones for a starting job. The Giants will look elsewhere for an upgrade. Colt McCoy re-signed with the Cardinals and his two-year, 7.5 million deal could be too expensive for the Giants. Marcus Mariota and Tyrode Taylor are the options.
