Dravid will postpone his trip to the UAE for the Asia Cup after testing positive for COVID-19.

He will retest in two days, and Paras Mhambrey will fill in till then.

The head coach of India, Rahul Dravid, tested positive for Covid-19 and will not be travelling with the rest of the team to Dubai for the Asia Cup today. Dravid reportedly had minor symptoms, but they have already subsided. In two days, he will take the test once more. The bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey, will fill in until then.

Dravid’s test in two days will probably determine if VVS Laxman, who led India in Zimbabwe while Dravid took a brief sabbatical, will also travel with the squad to Dubai. On August 28, India will play Pakistan in its opening Asia Cup game.

According to a BCCI release, “Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test done prior to the team’s departure to the UAE for Asia Cup 2022.” “Mr. Dravid is being monitored by the BCCI Medical team and only exhibits minor symptoms. After his return and receipt of a negative COVID-19 report, he will join the group. The rest of the team will meet on August 23, 2022, in the United Arab Emirates.”

India’s final competition before announcing their roster for the T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November is probably the Asia Cup. Therefore, the Asia Cup is a crucial event that the decision-makers should attend. It is thought that 11 or 12 spots in the team are essentially filled, but the Asia Cup may have an impact on the final three or four spots. Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, who are receiving rehabilitation at NCA in Bangalore, will also be evaluated for fitness.
