Braves sign Pablo Sandoval to a minor league contract

The Braves have signed Pablo Sandoval to a minor league contract and have relegated him to their substitute site in Gwinnett, as per Jon Heyman.

Sandoval started the abbreviated season with the Giants however was released a week ago in the wake of hitting an immaterial .220/.278/.268 across 90 plate appearances.

Sandoval has not been good in recent years, in spite of the fact that he hit to the tune of a 110 wRC+ and 1.0 WAR in 93 games the previous summer.

This would appear to be just extraordinary depth and Break In Case Of Emergency protection for the Braves during the last fourteen days of the regular season.

Indeed, even with the extended lists it’s difficult to track down a list spot for him on the seat given his constraints protectively.

The Braves will start a three-game arrangement with the Baltimore Orioles today around evening time at Camden Yards. First pitch is set for 7:35 p.m. ET.
