Australia A vs India A: Cricket Australia revealed on Tuesday the schedule for the forthcoming women’s series between India A and Australia A, which will be played in Queensland in August.
The Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay will host a three-match Twenty20 leg to kick off the multi-format series on August 7, 9, and 10. Three 50-over matches will take place at the Northern Suburbs Cricket Club on August 13, 15, and 17 after the Twenty20s.
As part of a continuing four-year agreement between the two countries, current and future cricket stars from Australia and India will compete against one another across the multi-format series.
Tess Flintoff, the newest member of the national contract list, will be hoping to impress selectors and push for her first call-up to the world-champion squad. Healy and McGrath will be joined by Australian fast-bowlers Kim Garth and Darcie Brown, who will use the series as preparation for the ICC Women’s World Cup, which will be played in India in October.
McGrath will take charge in the 50-over format, while Charli Knott of Queensland will further enhance her leadership abilities by leading the T20 and four-day teams.
Scott Prestwidge has been appointed head coach, and Dan Marsh (T20 and 50-over) and Gavan Twining (four-day) have been selected assistants for the Australian Women’s Team.
