Cricket IPL 2024

IPL 2019: How people are excited for IPL Season 12 and Expectations from team Royal Challengers Bangalore

Indian Premier League (IPL) is a big deal for all the cricket worshippers in India and with the 23rd of March approaching, the cricket devotees can’t wait for the first match. As I type these two words, ‘first match’,  my mind takes me to the IPL schedule reminding me that the first match is of the Virat Kohli led team Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB).
As we look back towards their performances, my mind goes dizzy first, ecstatic second and agonised at the end. Why?

Dizzy, because RCB, always had a strong lineup for the batsmen, not for the bowlers. This year, they have Y. Chahal, one of the most talented and amazing spinners of the world, N Coulter Nile, Mohd Siraj, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, my personal favorite, Nandeep Saini and Kulwant Khejroliya as pacers. The names make me dizzy thinking will they prove themselves useful enough and tarnish the image RCB has created of their weak bowling line? Will they?

Ecstatic, as once again, we will see two of the best cricketers, Virat Kohli and Ab De Villiers together! With people of all genders fanning over not only their talents but also their looks and style, both the players make sure that we are glued to our television screens thought-out. However, we can’t wait to see them together, once again, playing for the same team, advertising for the same team, planning for the same team. I can’t wait. Can you?
Agonised, as I look behind the statistics of Royal Challengers Bangalore as they are not very satisfying. Last year, everyone was hoping for the team to at least enter the semi finals, but they barely made to the last or maybe the second last spot. With the new, talented and young players this time, will RCB perform better and take home the trophy?

Honestly, I can’t wait for IPL to start, I want to see the new players, the cheering audience, the disappointed faces of the cricket fans, painted happy faces when they see their favorite team entering the finale, the star studded front seats and the sugar and spice along with some popcorns between the same. I can’t wait. For all I know, I am not the only one, there are plenty others, including the person reading this. May the best team win is all we can hope, as in the end, the trophy stays in India.
